Half Light was a multidisciplinary piece comissioned by painter Mary Chamberlain based on her work ‘Half Light’.
I composed a piece in 3 movements based on Mary’s painting. It inspired dancer Angela Towler and photographer Paul Lewis to create a short dance film.

“Half Light (essentially a painting about Trust) ‘When you are half made, and have to appear again in the half light.’ A piece inspired by those rare and specific times that can occur in life when a person feels undone and unable to function and yet somehow have to carry on. Sometimes the surrounding environment or circle of relationships rises to meet one and, for those who are feeling half made, the light is soft too and not too exposing and so wraps around, meets and protects. “
